ZueS Trojan Attack Spoofs, IRS, Twitter, and Youtube Criminals have launched a major email campaign to deploy the infamous ZeuS Trojan. This latest attach appears to be an extension of a broad malware spam campaign that began at the end of May. It sends out spam messages disguised as fraud alerts from the IRS, Twitter account hijack warnings, and salacious Youtube.com videos. The fake IRS e-mails arrive with the subject line "Notice of Underreported Income" and encourage the recipient to click a link to review their tax statement. A word to the wise: Do not click on attachments included in unsolicited e-mails, especially those that encourage you to act quickly or else suffer some scary fate. These are almost universally scams or attempts to plant malicious software on your computer. Also, note that the IRS has stated emphatically that it does not communicate with citizens via email. Text Message Scam Text messaging is another way thieves are trying to access your personal information. Consumers have reported receiving a text message on their cell phone that their credit card/debit card/cell phone service has or will be deactiviated and they need to text back (or call a number and verify) account and PIN information. Of course if they do, they soon find their account has been hit by criminals. Please be assured that Security National Bank will never ask for personal information in a text message or an email. If you do receive this type of text message you should file a police report and contact your cell phone provider. Telephone Phishing Scam Alert: A recent telephone phishing scam has been occuring in the midwest where victims have received a telephone phishing call where the thief says they are from Visa and there has been a security breech and the customer's debit card has been locked. The thief asks for the 3 digit number on the back of the card in order to unlock the card.
