Top-Down, Bottom-Up, or Both?

Top-Down, Bottom-Up, or Both?

We’re very focused on providing consistent, conservative investment solutions to our clients.  Our security selection analytics are comprehensive, and we build portfolios based, in large part, on the quality of the options available to us.  This is commonly known as a ‘bottom-up’ philosophy.

At the same time, we need to determine how to allocate your holdings within the broad guidelines you designate.  How is stock exposure spread among small and large companies, domestic or international markets?  On the fixed income side, what is our view on credit quality and duration risk?  These are ‘top-down’ considerations.

Most managers will claim adherence to one or the other methods.  We try to meet in the middle,  with a little extra emphasis on the ‘bottom-up’ approach.

If there is anything we can do for you as you examine your financial picture, please let us know.  We have the resources to help you define and achieve your goals.
