"Stock the Socks for Kids" brings comfort to kids in need

January 14, 2025

SIOUX CITY, Iowa — Security National Bank’s annual “Stock the Sock for Kids” sock drive has raised a total of 5,935 pairs of socks for area schools.

During the past month’s drive, which is sponsored in partnership with television station KMEG, local residents and businesses brought in thousands of pairs of youth socks to bank locations across Siouxland.

After raising a previous 6,007 socks last year, Security National Bank in November challenged the Siouxland community to bring in youth socks as a twist on the campaign.

The community responded, bringing donations to SNB locations in Sioux City, Dakota Dunes, Akron, Mapleton, Lawton, Moville — and even as far away as Orange City and Sheldon. The socks were then delivered to the Sioux City Public School system to distribute to children in need throughout the year.

“The fact that we were able to reach nearly 6,000 pairs of socks is a testament to the generosity of the people and businesses in our community,” said Jeremy Craighead, executive vice president of Security National Bank. “We’re proud to be a part of it, and to provide help to kids in Siouxland who need it most.”

Socks are often overlooked, but they are crucial for health, hygiene, and overall well-being, especially during cold weather.
